CRUSHED BEAKSLondon’s Crushed Beaks have returned with a new one-off track, ‘Grim’, released digitally through Paint It Black.http://soundcloud.com/crushed-beaks/grimThe two-piece will celebrate the unveiling of ‘Grim’ with a series of shows, including dates at London’s Old Blue Last and an appearance at Sheffield’s Tramlines Festival.Crushed Beaks first made a serious impression last year with the ‘Close-Ups / Sun Dogs’ single, released through Too Pure Singles Club. After cementing their status as a live act to be reckoned with, as well as finding themselves named Ones Tp Watch for 2012 by The Line of Best Fit and The 405, they combined with fellow London newcomers Torches as part of a split release, with Torches covering Crushed Beaks’ ‘Close Ups’ and Crushed Beaks returning the favour with a glorious take on Torches’ ‘VTOO’.‘Grim’ shows a slight departure from the heady walls of noise that defined the band’s debut release. A shift in production focus away from the wall-of-sound pop of ‘Sun Dogs’ shows the pair placing Matt Poile’s vocals higher in the mix, incorporating bursts of math-rock guitar, all whilst retaining their breakneck speed and sheer level of force, with the track spanning below the two minute mark.http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crushed-Beaks/143330852420879TELEMANNew London group Teleman have seemingly appeared from the abyss, however the handful of tracks that have come to light so far show them to be worthy of close attention. The three-piece’s simple, sonorous brew of guitar, drum and synths is not at all unusual, happily where they immediately stand out from the rest is in the variety and quality of their compositions. The few intelligently crafted, indie-pop songs that have come to light reveal a class act that instantly sparks musical curiosity whilst being a thoroughly enjoyable listen. http://telemanband.tumblr.com/PREGNANT UFOAnother brand new act, this time from Koichi of the Screaming Tea Party and The Catcher Nine. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pregnant-UFO/228741693908606http://soundcloud.com/thecatchernine
